Trezeguet, Al Ahly

Al Ahly have made a surprising move in the transfer market, bringing back Egyptian international Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet.

The announcement adds to the club’s late activity winter transfer window, which has recently seen the arrivals of Slovenian striker Nejc Gradisar, Ahmed Reda from Tala’e El-Geish, and Mustafa El-Ash on loan from ZED FC.

Trezerguet’s parent club, Trabzonspor, officially announced the departure of Egyptian star Mahmoud Trezeguet to the African champions, confirming the details of the transfer. Trezeguet’s contract with Al Ahly is set to span five years, with the agreement set to commence following the FIFA Club World Cup.

In a statement submitted and shared on the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), Trabzonspor confirmed the agreement with Al Ahly for Trezeguet’s permanent transfer starting from the 2025-2026 football season.

According to the agreement, the Red Devils will pay Trabzonspor a contract termination fee of €1.6 million. Additionally, the 30-year-old Egyptian player has forfeited €100,000 in outstanding dues, resulting in a total transfer revenue of €1.7 million for Trabzonspor.

Mahmoud Trezeguet, Al Ahly

Trezeguet began his footballing career at Ahly, rising through the youth ranks before making his debut for the senior team. Between 2012 and 2015, he made 87 appearances for the Cairo giants.

The 30-year-old then embarked on a successful European career, playing for clubs such as Anderlecht and Mouscron in Belgium, Kasımpasa and Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey, and Aston Villa in England. Most recently, he represented Trabzonspor in Turkey before his loan stint at Al-Rayyan.
