Egyptian striker Omar Elkholy has officially joined UAE club Gulf United as a free agent, KingFut can exclusively reveal.

The 27-year-old Elkholy spent last season at Cyprus’ Achyronas-Onisilos FC, where he played under former Bayern Munich left-back Danijel Pranjić.

Elkholy, born in Saudi Arabia, has also played in Sweden and the United States of America, further enhancing his international experience before making the switch to Division One of the UAE.

Gulf United are a rising side in the UAE, having achieved back-to-back promotions under former Newcastle United stalwart Steven Taylor. The club even previously held a friendly with the Premier League side back in March of 2022.

Gulf United will look to challenge for their third promotion in a row, with the club currently sitting on just one point from their first two games of the season.
