Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca officially announced the signing of Senegalese striker M’Baye Niang on a free transfer.
Niang was a free agent after his contract with Serie A side Empoli came to an end in July. The player was offered on Zamalek but they rejected a deal due to his high salary demands.
Last season, M’Baye Niang, who is valued at €2.50m by Transfermarket, scored six goals in 14 Serie appearances for Empoli, and eight in 16 for Turkish club Adana Demirspor, where he played the first half of the season.
Before that, Niang played for French clubs Stade Rennais, Auxerre, SM Caen, Montpellier, and Girondins de Bordeaux, and AC Milan, Torino, Genoa in Italy, while also having a spell with Watford in England.
The 29-year-old also has 15 caps to his name with Senegal, scoring four goals and was part of the country’s team that played in the 2018 World Cup and the 2019 AFCON.
Wydad Casablanca are trying to rebuild their squad after a disastrous season where they finished fifth in the league. They made a host of summer signings to improve their squad under new manager Rhulani Mokwena.
