Former Al Ahly’s DR Congolese striker Walter Bwalya has joined Algerian club JS Kabylie on a two-year deal.
Bwalya had offers from Egyptian clubs, including one from newly promoted Ghazl El-Mahalla but he preferred to join the Algerian giants, who finished in seventh place last season.
The 29-year-old has been playing in the Arab region since moving to El-Gouna in 2019 from Nkana FC of Zambia and following impressive time in Hurghada, Bwalya completed a €1 million move to Al Ahly.
Despite failing to replicate his form in Cairo, Bwalya still was part of the Al Ahly team that won the 2021 CAF Champions League and the 2020 Club World Cup bronze medal, playing against the likes of Bayern Munich.
Al Ahly then loaned Bwalya to Malatyaspor in Turkey, Al-Sailiya in Qatar, and Saudi club Al-Qadisiyah before letting him leave as a free agent in 2023 for him to join Omani club Al Nahda.
In Oman, Bwalya managed to get his career back on track with eight goals in 17 games, which encouraged JS Kabylie to take a punt on him as a free agent.
