Shawky Gharib

Ismaily have announced the appointment of former Egyptian National Team manager Shawky Gharib, following the passing of Ehab Galal.

After Galal’s tragic passing, Ismaily began their search for a new manager, with Gharib emerging as the final choice. The club also considered Hossam El-Badry, Tamer Mostafa, and Dutch coach Mark Wotte before settling on Gharib.

Shawky Gharib has served as Hassan Shehata’s assistant during the national team’s golden era. He later managed Smouha and was later appointed as the head coach of the Egyptian National Team but saw little success during his stint.

In addition, Gharib led the Egyptian U23 National Team to victory in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations and guided the team to the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics.

Before taking over at Ismaily, Gharib’s most recent managerial position was with Arab Contractors, where he led the team to a 7th-place finish in the 2022-2023 season.
