Former Zamalek and Egyptian National team striker Khaled Kamar announced his retirement from football in a brief statement on his Facebook account.
Kamar has established himself as a dependable Egyptian Premier League striker, scoring 73 league goals and assisting 29 while playing for eight different clubs.
He started his career at Tanta, before moving to Ittihad Al Shorta in 2009 where he made his name in Egyptian Football, representing the latter between 2009 to 2014.
His performances with the Al Shorta earned him a move to Egyptian giants Zamalek, where he scored six in 36 games, helping the Whites to the 2014/15 Egyptian Premier League title, his only major trophy during his playing career.
Kamar then had spells with Ittihad of Alexandria, Entag El-Harby, El-Gouna, El-Gaish, and most recently second-division side Raya, where he played until he left them last January.
On the international level, Kamar arguably had his most memorable moment when he Egypt 2-0 up against Chile in Santiago, before a hattrick of assists from Alexis Sánchez helped La Roja win 3-2.
He overall represented the Pharaohs on nine occasions, with his last appearance coming in 2015 against Equatorial Guinea in a friendly under former boss Héctor Cúper.
Kamar stressed on his account that his career as a player is over, but his passion for football will not end.
