The 24-year-old Egyptian shot-stopper was officially unveiled by the club on Wednesday after passing his medical, signing a two year contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2027.
Hamza Alaa left Al Ahly at the end of the 2024/25 season after his contract expired.
Despite limited senior minutes with the Cairo giants, he was widely seen as one of the club’s most promising academy graduates and represented the Egyptian national team at both youth and Olympic levels, playing a key role in the Pharaohs’ fourth-place finish at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In his first words as a Portimonense player, Hamza Alaa expressed his enthusiasm towards the move. “I’m here to give my all and help the club achieve its goals,” he said.
The move signals a fresh start for the young goalkeeper as he looks to carve out a place in European football and make a name for himself through the upcoming Liga Portugal 2 season.
He will certainly be aiming to quickly adapt, impress, and eventually help the club climb to the top flight.
