OFFICIAL: Jota finally departs Ittihad Jeddah

Portuguese winger Jota has finally put an end to his nightmare in Saudi Arabia after joining Stade Rennais on a two-year loan.

Ittihad Jeddah’s new manager Laurent Blanc has made it clear that Jota is completely out of his plans after their win over Al-Kholood.

Blanc also added that his Ittihad’s management is trying to find Jota a new club and it looks like their efforts were successful after agreeing a deal with Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais.

The deal will see Jota play in Rennes for the upcoming two seasons on loan, according to Saudi publication Arriyadiyah.

Jota has had a turbulent time in Saudi Arabia since his arrival last year from Celtic for a fee close to €30m and has been linked with a move away from Jeddah since January but he opted to stay and fight for his place.

The 25-year-old will now hope to revive his career in France as he becomes Rennais’ 10th summer signing alongside the likes of Glen Kamara, Leo Østigård, and Mikayil Faye.

Rennes currently sit eighth on the Ligue 1 table after collecting three points from their opening two league games of the season and head coach Julien Stéphan will hope Jota’s impact can help the club to a better position than last season’s tenth place.
