Qatari side Qatar SC have officially completed the signing of Al Ahly’s Ahmed Abdelkader on a season-long loan.
The 25-year-old has been in and out of the squad under Marcel Koller this season, making 23 appearances in which he scored twice and assisted further two goals.
Looking for more playing time, Abdelkader has decided to depart Al Ahly on a season-long loan to join Qatar SC, which will mark his second spell abroad, having also played for Czech club Sparta Prague.
Before agreeing to the loan move, Abdelkader is understood to have extended his contract with Al Ahly for one further season, which was initially set to expire by June 2025.
Abdelkader will be hoping a move to Qarar resurrects his career at Al Ahly, where he has made 112 appearances since returning from a loan spell at Smouha in August 2021.
Qatar SC finished eighth in the Qatar Stars League last season and they are to rebuild their squad to compete for the league title and get back to the AFC Champions League.
The club have in their squad Euro and World Cup winner Javi Martinez, ex-Al Ahly defender Badr Benoun, and Qatari footballing icon Sebastián Soria.
