Zamalek have officially announced the signing of Moroccan winger Abdelhamid Maali from Ittihad Tanger on a five-year contract.

The 19-year-old, widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Morocco’s Botola Pro, was promoted to Ittihad Tanger’s senior team during the 2023/24 season and went on to make 44 appearances since.

Abdelhamid Maali will be registered with Zamalek’s youth team and will not count toward the foreign-player quota, in line with Egyptian FA rules, which allow clubs to register up to six foreign players in the senior squad.

The Moroccan becomes the latest signing for Zamalek, following Palestinian winger Adam Kaied.

The White Knights have been active in the transfer market, as the club looks to revamp the squad under new coach Yannick Ferrera following a disappointing campaign.

Zamalek finished third in the Egyptian Premier League last season and were eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup in the quarter-finals. They kick off the new season on 9 August against Ceramica Cleopatra at Suez Stadium.
