Pep Guardiola praised Omar Marmoush, saying the forward was the best player in the Bundesliga prior to his move to the Premier League.
City made several signings during the January transfer window, but none have made an impression quite like Marmoush. Since his arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt, the 25-year-old has hit the ground running, quickly becoming one of the standout figures in Guardiola’s squad.
In an interview with SuperSport, Guardiola spoke about Marmoush’s impact both before and after joining City.
“The club found him in Germany making an incredible, incredible impact,” Guardiola said. “This season, before he came to us, he was the best player in Germany. He’s a fantastic player. We have to admit the impact he’s made with us has been really, really good.”
The statement comes despite the Bundesliga being home to stars like Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala. But according to Pep Guardiola, Marmoush at Frankfurt stood out even more, often carrying a heavier load for a less dominant side.
While Kane has excelled at Bayern Munich, a club that usually start most matches as instant favorites, Marmoush was consistently delivering goals and assists for a Frankfurt team where he was the main man.
Now at Manchester City, Marmoush continues to impress in England, living up to the hefty €75 million fee that the club paid to secure his services.
