Percy Tau

Vietnamese club Nam Dinh have officially announced the signing of South African winger Percy Tau on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old, was unveiled by the club on Saturday through a statement on their official social media channels. Percy Tau joins the Nam Dinh from Qatar SC, whom he joined earlier this year in the January transfer window.

The former Brighton player had previously enjoyed a decorated spell with Al Ahly after joining in 2021 from the Premier League side. Prior to leaving for the Qatari side, Tau’s relationship with Al Ahly had deteriorated over his decision to depart the club.

Over four seasons, he featured in 126 matches, directly contributing to 46 goals (30 goals, 16 assists).

During his time in Cairo, Percy Tau became the most decorated South African player in Egyptian football history, lifting two CAF Champions League titles, three Egyptian Premier League titles, and four Egyptian Super Cups.

Before his move to Egypt, Tau had stints in England with Brighton and in Belgium with Club Brugge and Anderlecht. Internationally, he remains one of South Africa’s key players, with 15 goals in 48 caps.
