Egyptian Cup Champions Pyramids finished their training camp in Turkey with a 1-0 loss to Turkish club Konyaspor.
The camp was part of Pyramids’ preparations for the upcoming Egyptian Super Cup. In their first match, they secured an 18-0 win over amateur Turkish team Yenile Spor Kulübü.
Against Konyaspor, Pyramids used two different lineups for each half. They began the match with Ahmed El-Shennawy in goal, with a backline featuring Ahmed Samy, Mahmoud Marei, Tarek Alaa, and Karim Alaa. The midfield consisted of Abdelrahman Magdy, Ramadan Sobhi, Mohamed Reda “Bobo,” Ahmed Tawfik, and Sadiq Owujoola, while Marwan Hamdy led the attack as the lone striker.
In the second half, Sherif Ekramy replaced El-Shenawy in goal, with a new defensive setup of Ali Gabr, Ossama Galal, Ahmed Atef, and Mohamed Fofana. The midfield saw further changes as Mahmoud Dunga, Youssef Obama, Youssef Ossama Nabih, and Emad Mayhoub replaced Magdy, Sobhi, Tawfik, and Owujoola, respectively. Dodo El Gabbas took over as the striker.
Mohamed Reda “Bobo” played 75 minutes before being substituted for Mohanad Lashin, while Ahmed Mayhoub replaced Sherif Ekramy for the final 20 minutes of the game.
The winning goal came in the 92nd minute through Melih Bostan to claim Konyaspor, who sit eighth in the Turkish Super Lig, the win.
Pyramids will now shift their focus on the Egyptian Super Cup in which they face Zamalek on Sunday 20 October in the semi-finals.
