Pyramids FC made history on home soil, lifting their first-ever CAF Champions League title with a victory over Mamelodi Sundowns.

Goals from Fiston Mayele and Ahmed Sami sealed the win, completing a 3-1 aggregate triumph after a 1-1 draw in the first leg in South Africa.

With this historic feat, Pyramids become only the fourth Egyptian club to win Africa’s most coveted club competition, joining Ismaily, Zamalek, and record-holders Al Ahly.

Their triumph takes Egypt’s tally of CAF Champions League titles to 19, further solidifying the nation’s dominance in African football.

The win also earns Pyramids a place in the 2025 CAF Super Cup against RS Berkane and qualifies them for the 2025 Intercontinental Cup, where they will face the winner of Al Ahli Saudi vs Auckland City.

They are now officially the first African side to book a ticket for the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup and only the second Egyptian club in history, after Al Ahly, to qualify for both the Intercontinental and Club World Cups.

The historic win for Pyramids FC might just be the signal that a new Egyptian giant is born on the continent’s biggest stage.
