Pyramids were knocked out of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals after losing 2-1 to Morocco’s AS FAR in the second leg.
AS FAR struck first through Reda Slim in the ninth minute. Mohamed Rabie Hrimat added a second in the 55th minute from a corner. Fiston Mayele pulled one back in the 62nd minute, but the Egyptian side failed to force extra time.
Pyramids also missed a chance to shift momentum in the first half. The referee checked a possible handball for a penalty, then allowed play to continue. After Mayele scored, Pyramids pushed forward but created little clear danger in the closing stages.
The tie turned after a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Morocco. That result left Pyramids needing a home win, but AS FAR controlled the key moments and took revenge for last season’s elimination by the title holders.
