Pyramids FC finished Gameweek Four two points clear at the Egyptian Premier League summit, while Al Ahly’s perfect start ended with a draw.

Pyramids lead with 12 points from four matches, ahead of Zamalek and Al Ahly on 10. Zamalek hold second place on goal difference, with Ceramica Cleopatra fourth on nine points.

Khaled Seddiq’s own goal settled Pyramids’ meeting with El Gouna at Air Defence Stadium on Wednesday, securing their fourth successive victory and clean sheet.

Seddiq had cleared an Ahmed Abdelkader effort off the line before inadvertently deciding the match in the 56th minute. The defender attempted to return Nasser Maher’s cross to his goalkeeper but directed the ball into his own net.

Pyramids subsequently missed a penalty and had two goals disallowed. Maher failed to convert from the spot in the 72nd minute, while Ahmed Nadhir Benbouali’s follow-up was ruled out for encroachment.

Mostafa Ziko also found the net late on, but officials disallowed his effort for a foul by Benbouali during the build-up. Pyramids protected their narrow advantage, leaving El Gouna winless after four matches.

Elsewhere in Cairo, Al Ahly needed a second-half penalty to avoid defeat at Arab Contractors after winning their opening fixtures.

Eslam Gaber put the hosts ahead from the spot in the 39th minute after Mohamed Hany conceded a penalty against Omar Kamal Abdelwahed.

Ahmed Sayed ‘Zizo’ equalised in the 58th minute following a foul on Achraf Bencharki inside the penalty area. Monsef Bakrar then thought he had completed the turnaround, but VAR ruled out his 63rd-minute effort for offside.

Emam Ashour shot over late on, while Contractors threatened during stoppage time without finding a winner. The draw took the hosts to four points.

Contractors had collected their first points in the previous round by beating El Gouna 1-0, as KingFut reported in its Gameweek Three coverage.

Meanwhile, Modern Sport recovered from a goal down to beat Wadi Degla 2-1 and climb to fifth with seven points.

Seif Teka headed Degla ahead in the 53rd minute, but Mahmoud Mamdouh equalised seven minutes later. Mahmoud El-Halawany completed the comeback in the 65th minute, following up after an effort struck the post. Degla finished the round 11th with five points.

On the lower end of the table, El Sharkia ENPPI recorded their first victory of the season with a 2-1 win over ZED at Al Salam Stadium.

Mahmoud ‘Kahraba’ converted a 33rd-minute penalty before Ahmed Kalousha headed in Ziad Kamal’s corner in the 42nd minute. Wagdy Nabhan pulled one back in the 56th minute, but ENPPI held on. Both sides have four points, with ENPPI 14th and ZED 15th.

Tuesday’s fixtures had briefly sent Zamalek top after Mohamed Ismail and Ahmed Sherif scored in a 2-0 victory over Abu Qir Fertilizers.

Ceramica also won 2-0, beating Smouha through second-half goals from Samir El-Eraky and Hussein El-Sayed. The result secured their third consecutive league victory.

The round began on Monday with El Bank El Ahly beating Ghazl El Mahalla 3-1 and Suez Petrojet overcoming Al Masry 2-1. Ittihad Alexandria defeated Asyut Petroleum 1-0, while Canal SC and Tala’ea El Gaish drew 1-1.

El Gouna, Asyut Petroleum, Smouha and Ghazl El Mahalla remain without a victory. Smouha are also the only side yet to score this season.
