Rapid Bucharest manager Marius Șumudică expressed confidence that the issue surrounding Aaron Boupendza’s transfer would be resolved within a week, predicting that his club would win the case.
The transfer saga involving Gabonese striker Aaron Boupendza and Zamalek was one of the most drawn-out stories of the summer window.
Boupendza had initially signed a pre-contract with Zamalek, and the Egyptian club even received his international transfer certificate. However, in a surprising turn of events, Boupendza chose to join Romanian side Rapid Bucharest instead.
Speaking to the Romanian outlet GSP, Șumudică stated: “The Boupendza issue will be sorted out in a week. He only signed a letter of acceptance with Zamalek, not an official contract.”
“The Egyptian club cannot win the case based on that document. It expired after three days, and by the time Boupendza signed with us, it was no longer valid.”
FIFA has since launched an investigation following Zamalek’s complaint about the transfer, which has left Boupendza unable to play for Rapid Bucharest until a decision is reached.
