Al Ahly have reportedly offered Percy Tau a mutual contract termination, hoping for the South African to depart the club before January.
Tau, who has struggled for playing time this season, has been limited to just 11 minutes of league action under manager Marcel Koller.

The African Champions are eager to part ways with the 29-year-old to make room for new signings, with reports suggesting they are targeting a foreign player to strengthen their squad.
According to local reports, Al Ahly proposed paying Tau $300,000 as part of a mutual termination agreement, allowing him to leave as a free agent in January; however, the player has reportedly rejected the offer, insisting on receiving the remaining $600,000 owed in his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the season.
Tau’s lack of playing time has drawn criticism from South Africa’s national team manager, Hugo Broos, who has urged the winger to find a new club to revive his international career. Tau’s exclusion from recent South Africa squads has been attributed to his limited minutes at Al Ahly.
Tau joined Al Ahly in August 2021 from Brighton & Hove Albion for a reported fee of €1.8 million. During his time with the Cairo giants, he has contributed significantly to their success, helping secure 11 trophies, including two CAF Champions League titles.
In total, Tau has made 117 appearances for Al Ahly, scoring 29 goals and providing 13 assists across all competitions. Despite his accomplishments, his time with the club appears to be nearing an end as both parties navigate his future.
If Tau agrees to a departure in January, it could pave the way for Al Ahly to sign a new foreign player as they aim to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season.
