Mohamed Salah takes center stage in the latest episode of Premier League Stories which follows his extraordinary rise to global superstardom.

The short film traces Salah’s path from his early days as a wide-eyed teenager dreaming of football glory in Egypt to becoming a two-time Premier League champion. With 28 goals and 18 assists so far in the 2024/25 campaign, the Egyptian forward has once again powered the Reds to domestic glory.

His first stint in English football, with Chelsea in 2014, proved a pivotal moment. He explains how his time in London reshaped his approach to the game.

“I remember my first game was against Newcastle. I was attacking down the flank, and then boom, a huge tackle,” Salah recalls. “I thought, ‘How am I going to survive here?’ That’s when I realized I had to get stronger, work harder, and adapt.”

The lack of regular game time at Stamford Bridge eventually pushed him to seek opportunities elsewhere, and it was in Italy, first with Fiorentina and then with AS Roma, that Salah began to rebuild his confidence.

“Chelsea was the most important period of my life,” Salah reflects. “That struggle made me ask myself, ‘Do I want to be average, or do I want to be great?’ I started reading more, watching videos, and working on my mentality.”

The lessons he learned as a result have paid off, to say the least. Since arriving at Anfield, Salah has shattered records and redefined what consistency looks like at the highest level. With 244 goals in all competitions and 183 in the Premier League alone, he is the club’s all-time top scorer in the competition.

He has already won the Premier League Golden Boot three times and the Playmaker of the Season award once, and he’s poised to reclaim both this season. Currently, Salah sits just three goals away from surpassing Andy Cole and becoming the fourth-highest scorer in Premier League history.

“It’s hard to explain how it feels to play alongside him. It’s unbelievable,” says Liverpool teammate Dominik Szoboszlai. “He doesn’t follow the records, the records follow him.”

The documentary is a reminder that Salah’s legacy isn’t just built on goals and assists, as many have argued, but on the relentless mindset that turned rejection and adversity into motivation and dominance.
