Mohamed Salah just received a significant boost in securing the Premier League Golden Boot following Erling Haaland’s recent injury setback.

The Manchester City striker is set to miss between five and seven weeks due to an ankle injury, as confirmed by the club’s medical team and manager Pep Guardiola. The Norwegian’s injury came during the FA Cup quarter-final game against Bournemouth, before being replaced with Omar Marmoush who came off the bench to score the winning goal and send the Sky Blues to the semi-Finals.

Erling Haaland, who won the Golden Boot in each of his first two seasons at Manchester City, will now likely miss the rest of the season, effectively taking him out of the title race. With just weeks remaining in the season, the striker’s absence seems to be the decisive factor in the race for the league’s top scorer title. The Norwegian sits on 21 goals, six behind Salah’s current tally of 27.

Mo Salah has not only led Liverpool’s charge in the league but also established himself as the most productive player in the competition, topping both the scoring and assist charts with 27 goals and 17 assists.

The injury also shifts focus onto Manchester City’s attacking options, with Omar Marmoush potentially stepping in to lead the frontline in Haaland’s absence.

With just a handful of games remaining, Salah is now in pole position to claim his fourth Premier League Golden Boot.
