Salah, who previously won the award in 2017–18 and 2021–22, now stands a strong chance of becoming one of the few players in history to win it three times, this time after leading Arne Slot’s Liverpool to their 20th league title.
The shortlist also includes Reds teammate Alexis Mac Allister, who played a key role in midfield during Liverpool’s title-winning season. Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak round out the six-man list.
Fellow nominees Declan Rice, who hit career-best numbers, and Alexander Isak delivered exceptional performances for Arsenal and Newcastle United respectively.
However, it’s Salah’s consistent impact and contributions that place him firmly ahead of the pack. The Egyptian forward ended the season with the Premier League Golden Boot and Playmaker awards, as well as the Premier League Player of the Season award.
The winner will be revealed at the PFA ceremony at Manchester Opera House on August 19.
