Mohamed Salah starred as Liverpool beat Brighton 3-0 at Anfield on Saturday. The win sent Arne Slot’s side into the FA Cup fifth round.

Brighton arrived after knocking out Manchester United in round three. However, Liverpool controlled the tie and rarely let Brighton settle.

Liverpool struck first through Curtis Jones late in the first half. Jones started at right-back as injuries hit Arne Slot’s defensive options. He attacked the box and finished from Milos Kerkez’s cross.

After the break, Salah decided the rhythm of the game. He slipped a clever pass into Dominik Szoboszlai’s path. The Hungarian drove forward and fired Liverpool’s second past Jason Steele.

Then Salah put the tie beyond doubt. He won a penalty after Pascal Groß fouled him. He stepped up and powered the spot-kick home.

Speaking after the game, Salah focused on Szoboszlai, emphasizing the importance of the midfielder’s role for Liverpool this season. “Our success in the FA Cup will largely depend on Szoboszlai’s performances,” Salah said. “We’ve relied on him a lot this season.”

The Egyptian added that as things stand, “Szoboszlai is among the best players in the world.”

Slot also welcomed Salah’s overall impact. He praised Salah’s defensive work alongside his goal contribution.

Liverpool now awaits the competition’s fifth round fixtures, which will take place in early March.
