Salah

Mohamed Salah leads the shortlist for the Player of the Season award, as the Egyptian closes in on yet another record-breaking campaign.

Salah is joined by Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch, making the title-winning Reds the most represented club on the list. Nottingham Forest’s standout duo Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White also feature among the eight-player shortlist, reflecting the club’s surprise performances this season.

Rounding out the nominations are Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice. Notably absent is last season’s winner, Erling Haaland, despite netting 21 goals this season.

Salah enters the final two games of the season as the frontrunner to claim the prestigious award, aiming to become only the fifth player in Premier League history to win it twice, joining the ranks of Kevin De Bruyne, Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Nemanja Vidić.

The 31-year-old forward has registered a staggering 46 goal contributions in just 36 league appearances, with 28 goals and 18 assists. He is just one goal or assist away from matching the all-time Premier League record for most goal involvements in a single season (47), currently held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole from the 42-game era.

Nottingham Forest’s inclusion of Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White reflects the club’s remarkable turnaround under pressure this season. Both players have played pivotal roles in keeping Forest competitive and are being recognized for their consistency and impact.

Isak earns back-to-back nominations after another prolific campaign for Newcastle, while Mbeumo earns his first nod following a breakout season with Brentford.
