Salah

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has given fans a glimpse into the levels of dedication he’s seen from Mohamed Salah.

Writing for The Players’ Tribune, Mac Allister recalled trying, and failing, to beat Mo Salah to the gym during their two years together at Anfield.

“For a few weeks, I actually tried to get to the gym before him, but it was impossible. He was always there already, sweating,” the Argentine revealed.

Mac Allister also reveals that when he asked Salah about his routine, the Egyptian replied, “I don’t like it when I get more than seven hours [of sleep]. I feel tired. You only need six-and-a-half.”

Even after an hour in the gym, Salah would insist on doing more, “I just did my abs. Now I have to really work out,” the midfielder wrote.

The 26-year-old admitted he tried to keep up but lasted only three sessions before conceding defeat, “I would wake up the next morning so sore I could barely sit up in bed!”

Despite turning 33 in June, Mohamed Salah’s fitness and consistency remain unmatched, something Mac Allister believes sets the tone for the entire squad.

“He’s the best professional I’ve ever seen,” Mac Allister said. “He’s a monster.”

Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has amassed 245 goals for the club. Remarkably, last season, the Reds’ star forward earned a clean sweep of awards, including the Premier League’s Player of the Season.
