Egypt’s national team manager Hossam Hassan has named a 27-man squad that set to take part in the September international break.

The Pharaohs will face Cape Verde on September 6 in Cairo in the opening game of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, before travelling to face Botswana four days later.

The seven-time African champions will then face Mauritania in a double-header on October 6 and October 14, before concluding the group stages in November.

For the opening two games, Hassan has decided to include nine players from Al Ahly in the squad, including three keepers as Hamza Alaa earned his first call-up after impressing in the Paris Olympics.

Zamalek’s Mohamed Shehata could also be in line to make their international debut after being called up alongside the team’s stars Nasser Maher and Ahmed Sayed Zizo.

Cleopatra FC’s defender Khaled Sobhi also earned his maiden call-up as he joins the squad with club teammate Ahmed Ramadan.

The usual names of Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush, Trezeguet, Mostafa Mohamed, and Hamdi Fathi have all also been called up in addition to Mohamed Elneny, who returned to the squad for the first time since the 2023 AFCON.

On the other hand, the most notable omission is Sam Morsy despite making his Premier League debut recently for Ipswich Town against Liverpool.

Mohamed Awad, Yasser Ibrahim, Omar Kamal, Akram Tawfik, Ahmed Oufa, and Mohamed Sherif have all been dropped out of the squad who played in June under Hassan.
