Benin international striker Samson Akinyoola has unilaterally terminated his contract with Zamalek over unpaid wages.
The 24-year-old informed Zamalek he won’t return to Cairo following the end of the international break, urging the club to mutually terminate his contract in order to find new suitors this summer.
On the other hand, it has been revealed that Zamalek has informed the player to return back to mutually terminate his contract and resolve the financial dispute.
Joining Zamalek from Venezuelan side Caracas FC in September 2022 for a fee of €1.2 million, Samson has scored just four goals in 31 games and struggled to break into the starting XI.
This season, he played just 13 times, scoring twice and also starting the CAF Confederation Cup final against RS Berkane, which Zamalek won after drawing 2-2 on aggregate.
Zamalek has been going through a tough financial situation lately, with FIFA handing them a transfer ban until January 2026 due to late wages owed to former Moroccan striker Khalid Boutaib.
