Saudi club Al-Khaleej transfer-list Mohamed Sherif

Saudi club Al-Khaleej have reportedly transfer-listed Egypt international Mohamed Sherif after just one season at the club.

Sherif joined Al Khaleej last summer from Al Ahly in a €1.37m deal as he helped the club to a mid-table placement as they finished in 11th, five points away from relegation.

The 28-year-old scored six goals and assisted twice in 36 games, which didn’t impress Portuguese head coach Pedro Emanuel who asked for the player’s departure.

According to Saudi publication Alyaum, Al-Khaleej’s board has already started marketing the player in preparation for selling him this summer.

Sherif is currently on international duty with the Pharaohs and was an unused substitute during Egypt’s 2-1 win over Burkina Faso in the most recent World Cup qualifier.

Sherif, a product of Wadi Degla’s youth sector, joined Al Ahly in the winter of 2018 for €450,000, before spending the 2019/20 season on loan at ENPPI.

During his time with Al Ahly, Sherif scored 58 goals and assisted 11 in 151 games, claiming the Egyptian Premier League and CAF Champions League Golden Boots in 2021.

His time in Cairo saw him lift, three league titles, two CAF Champions Leagues, two Egypt Cups, two CAF Super Cups, and two Egypt Super Cups.
