Al-Okhdood has entered into negotiations with Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg to sign Brazilian defender Rodrigo de Souza “Rodrigão” during the current summer transfer window.
Negotiations are progressing positively between all parties to obtain the player’s signature according to Saudi publication Arriyadiyah, with Zenit gladly willing to the player leave as his contract is set to expire next summer.
The 28-year-old Brazilian joined Zenit in the summer of 2022 from fellow Russian club Sochi, having also represented Portuguese club Gil Vicente during his stay in Europe.
Throughout his career with Zenit, Rodrigão made 50 appearances with the club in which he scored three goals to help them win two league titles, two Russian Super Cups, and one Russian Cup.
Before heading to Europe, Rodrigão moved between several Brazilian stations on loan from his parent club, Atletico Mineiro, where he started his career as a footballer.
Al Okhdood are continuing their training camp in the Turkish city of Izmit under their new Croatian manager Stjepan Tomas.
Al Okhdood, who barely stayed in the Saudi Pro League last season finishing just above the relegation spots, will try to have a better season to avoid being in a relegation battle once again.
