Pyramids goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy believes his side rank third behind Al Ahly and Zamalek in terms of budget.
The Cairo-based outfit emerged as one of the wealthiest clubs in the Egyptian Premier League since their inception back in 2018.
Since then, they have spent an estimated fee of €73.3m on signings over the last six years according to Transfermarkt, but have yet to win a single trophy.
Despite that, Sherif Ekramy defended his club and suggested that their wage bill is lower than league rivals Al Ahly and Zamalek.
“Pyramids are the only side viewed as a loser club when they don’t win a trophy,” Ekramy told ON Sports FM.
“With all due respect, there are clubs such as Ceramica Cleopatra, Haras El-Hodood, and Tala’a El-Gaish who have won titles, but are they more successful than Pyramids?
“No one knows exactly how much Pyramids spend but when it comes to financial budget, they are behind Al Ahly and Zamalek.”
