Mamelodi Sundowns’ defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil has reportedly agreed terms with Wydad Casablanca on a two-year deal.
Boutouil has been plying his trade in South Africa since July 2022, joining Sundowns from Moroccan club SCC Mohammédia for a reported fee of around €380,000.
The 26-year-old struggled for game time in Pretoria as he made just 31 appearances for the club over two seasons, but still managed to claim three trophies.
Despite not using him regularly during his time at Sundowns, Wydad’s new head coach Rhulani Mokwena has urged the Moroccan club to bring Boutouil and it seems the negotiations are heading in a positive way.
Moroccan publication ElBotola has revealed that Boutouil will terminate his contract at Sundowns to join Wydad on a two-year deal as a free agent.
Boutouil has previously played for Wydad’s arch-rivals Raja Casablanca while also having a spell in Belgium with Union SG.
Wydad fans also know the player well after the defender scored a vital goal against their club to help Sundowns win the 2023/24 African Football League.
