TABLE TENNIS: Hana Goda makes History

Egyptian prodigy Hana Goda has made history by finishing third in the Table Tennis World Cup, securing a historic bronze medal.

The 16-year-old reached the semifinals of the U19 Table Tennis World Cup, where she was defeated by Germany’s Annett Kaufmann in a 4-1 match.

Kaufmann went on to win the World Cup, but for Hana, reaching the semifinals was enough to claim the bronze, as no official match is held for third place.

This achievement is groundbreaking, as Hana becomes the first Arab, African, and Egyptian female player to win a medal at the World Championships.

However, this is not Hana’s first notable accomplishment. In 2023, she clinched the gold medal at the African Games and went on to win the African Table Tennis Championship in September of the same year.
