Zamalek manager Jose Gomes expressed his pride in leading his team in the Egyptian Super Cup final against rivals Al Ahly.
At a pre-match press conference, the Portuguese coach clarified that the game is not about him versus Marcel Koller: “This is not a game between Marcel Koller and me; it’s between Al Ahly and Zamalek. We have several options to cover for the missing players.”
“Representing Zamalek in the Super Cup final is an honor. We are here to play football and to show that Egyptian players and clubs can deliver strong performances.
“As for pressure, we are a big team, and we should channel that pressure into pushing us towards a victory.”
“Saying that Al Ahly is weaker than last season helps me sleep. We are playing against the champions of Egypt and Africa, with 8 or 9 international players. They are a tough team with a very capable manager.”
Jose Gomes finalized by saying: “We have our plan, and we aim to be at our best. I trust all my players and have various options to replace those who are unavailable.
“Each game has its own story, and we may change systems or players, but we are well-prepared and know Al Ahly just as well as they know us. There won’t be surprises.”
Omar Gaber accompanied Gomes at the press conference, confirming his readiness to play. Gaber mentioned that he and White Knights captain Shikabala had met with the players to motivate them to give their best and make Zamalek fans proud.
