CAF Super Cup champions Zamalek lost 2-1 to Petrojet in a friendly as part of their preparations for the upcoming season.
Ovie Ejaria, who is on trial with Zamalek, featured in the match, while new signing Djeferson Costa played alongside Mostafa El Zenary in defense.
Zamalek started with Mahmoud El Shenawy in goal, with a backline consisting of Mohamed Hamdy, Mostafa El Zenary, Djeferson Costa, and Ahmed Mahmoud. The midfield trio included Ahmed Fetouh, Mohamed Atef, and Ziad Kamal, while the forward line was led by Samson Akinyoola, Mostafa Shalaby, and Ovie Ejaria.
The game, held at Petrosport Stadium, saw Petrojet take a 2-0 lead in the first half. Zamalek’s only goal came in the 57th minute through Mostafa Shalaby, but the match ended 2-1 in favor of the newly promoted side.
Zamalek will continue their pre-season preparations with another match against Eastern Company on October 13 at 10:30 AM, followed by a second game against Petrojet later that same day at 5 PM.
These friendlies are part of manager José Gomes’ plan to ensure the squad is fully fit and ready for the Egyptian Super Cup.
