Reigning champions Al Ahly have defeated Simba 3-0 on aggregate to qualify for the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

The Red Devils had claimed a 1-0 win over Simba last week away from home to put one foot in the competition’s next round.

Head coach Marcel Koller made just one change to his lineup for the return leg with Reda Slim starting in place of South Africa’s Percy Tau.

The opening 45 minutes saw Al Ahly fail to create any real threat on goal with Simba coming close to finding the breakthrough before being denied by Mostafa Shobeir at the stroke of half-time.

Despite a frustrating half, the hosts managed to take the lead as Anthony Modeste’s decisive pass was met with a thunderous strike from Amr El-Sulya two minutes after the break.

A late penalty dispatched by Mahmoud Kahraba sealed the deal for Al Ahly as their quest for a second consecutive Champions League title continues.

They are now set to meet the winner between Petro Atletico de Luanda and TP Mazembe in the semi-finals next month.
