Egypt international Amro Tarek has scored in NY Red Bulls’ 3-2 victory over LA Galaxy in the 10th round of the Major League Soccer.
Tarek has joined Red Bulls last December from Orlando City and the LA Galaxy game was his fifth for his new side across all competitions.
The 26-year-old has started only two of his club’s first seven games, before being handed back-to-back starts against FC Cincinnati and then LA Galaxy.
Tarek rewarded his manager’s faith by putting Red Bulls 1-0 up inside the first 15 minutes after pouncing on a loose ball inside the box following a free-kick.
The goal marks Tarek’s first goal for his new side and his first since last August when he scored in Orlando City’s 3-3 draw with New England Revolution.
In the 39th minute, Carlos Antuna equalized for LA Galaxy and four minutes later Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave them the lead just before half-time.
Marc Rzatkowski brought Red Bulls back into the game in the 59th minute after converting Connor Lade’s low cross, and five minutes later, Tarek’s game came to an end as he was replaced by Derick Etienne.
Etienne needed only two minutes to leave his mark on the game after finding the net from close range following a great linkup play between Omir Fernandez and Daniel Royer.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s side tried to come back into the game, but the post and Red Bulls’ goalkeeper Luis Robles stopped in front of them, to earn the hosts a crucial victory.
Following the win, Red Bulls currently sit eighth in the Eastern Conference with 11 points from nine games, only one away from the playoffs places.
Their next game will be against third-placed Montreal Impact on Thursday, May 9 at the Red Bull Arena.
