Egypt opened their March camp with a 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia on Friday in Jeddah as part of their build-up to the FIFA World Cup.
Islam Issa gave Egypt an early lead in the fourth minute, and Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” doubled the advantage in the 16th. Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” added a third before halftime, and Omar Marmoush completed the scoring in the second half as Egypt moved clear against a weakened Saudi side missing Salem Al-Dawsari through injury.
Hossam Hassan used the game to rotate heavily. La Liga winger Haissem Hassan made his senior Egypt debut after the break, while Mohamed Abdelmonem also returned to international action for the first time in nearly a year after recovering from an ACL injury.
Egypt controlled the match from the start and led 3-0 at halftime. Saudi Arabia created little threat for long stretches, and Egypt extended the margin through a Marmoush screamer in the 56th minute before making a series of changes in the second half.
The result gives Egypt a strong start to a short international window that ends with Tuesday’s friendly against Spain. After the match, Hossam Hassan said the team had shown quick cohesion despite limited preparation time.
