Uganda, who are led by former Ismaily head coach Sebastien Desabre, had scheduled two friendlies ahead of the AFCON against Turkmenistan and Ivory Coast, with both games taking place in the United Arab Emirates.
Their opening game ended in a 0-0 draw with the central Asian country, which raised concerns about the team’s performance just a week before the tournament.
However, in their second game, they have managed to beat African powerhouse Ivory Coast 1-0, thanks to Farouk Miya’s 35th-minute penalty.
Both teams fielded their key players, with the likes of Serge Aurier, Jean Michaël Seri, Franck Kessié, Max Gradel, Jonathan Kodjia, and Nicolas Pépé starting for the Elephants.
Serey Dié, Swansea City forward Wilfried Bony, and Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha have also featured for them in the game.
Om the other hand, Uganda’s starting line-up saw the presence of Denis Onyango, Farouk Miya, Bevis Mugabi, and former Egyptian Premier League duo Isaac Muleme and Hassan Wasswa.
