Eliminatoires Coupe du Monde-2026: Conférence de presse du coach ...

Walid Regragui has stepped down as Morocco head coach, leaving the Atlas Lions less than 100 days ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The resignation reportedly follows Morocco’s failure to win the 2025 AFCON on home soil, where the hosts lost to Senegal in the final.

Walid Regragui, appointed in 2022, leaves after delivering Morocco’s greatest-ever FIFA World Cup run, guiding them to the semi-finals in Qatar

As of now, there has been no announcement regarding a successor to Regragui. The leading candidate for the position, however, appears to be Mohamed Ouahbi.

Ouahbi recently achieved a historic milestone after winning the U20 World Cup title with Morocco.

Regardless, Regragui’s exit lands at a sensitive time. The World Cup starts in 98 days, and the Atlas Lions are set to face Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti in the opening stages.
