Dutch defender Wesley Hoedt is set to arrive in Saudi Arabia in a few days to complete a move to Al-Shabab from Watford.
Al-Shabab reached an agreement with the 30-year-old and got the approval of the Saudi Pro League recruitment committee to finalize the deal.
Hoedt is now expected to arrive in Riyadh within the next two days according to Arriyadiyah; however, his debut would have to wait after picking up a minor injury during the pre-season preparations with Watford.
The injury will probably force him to miss the season opener against Ettifaq, but Hoedt should be available starting from the weekend after against Al-Khaleej.
Wesley Hoedt ply his trade at EFL Championship Watford, having also previously played for Southampton, Lazio, Celta de Vigo, and Anderlecht.
The defender has more than 40 Premier League games to his name during his time at St Mary’s, 87 for Lazio, and last season he made 48 appearances for Watford across the EFL Championship and the FA Cup.
On the international level, Hoedt has 6 caps with the Netherlands, with his last appearance for the Dutch coming in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
He will now set to become the club’s third major summer signing after Italy international Giacomo Bonaventura and Saudi Pro League legend Abderrazak Hamdallah.
