World Anti-Doping Agency requests four-year suspension for Ramadan Sobhi

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has officially appealed the decision to lift the suspension of Pyramids FC winger Ramadan Sobhi.

The Anti-Doping Organization initially suspended Ramadan Sobhi after testing positive for a doping examination back in March.

After around three months of suspension, Sobhi successfully appealed the decision, allowing him to return to the pitch last season.

After his comeback, he featured in 26 games for Pyramids FC, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

However, WADA is now challenging the Egyptian Anti-Doping Agency’s ruling, requesting that Ramadan Sobhi face a four-year suspension.

Hany Zahran, Sobhi’s lawyer, indicated that WADA’s appeal was anticipated but emphasized that it will not affect the player’s eligibility to play.

Sobhi recently played in Pyramids’ 1-1 draw against Rwanda’s Armée Patriotique in the CAF Confederation Cup.

He is expected to participate in the return leg, which is scheduled to take place in Egypt on September 21 at 9 PM CET.
