The official spokesperson for Zamalek addressed rumors regarding Mahmoud Bentayg’s alleged positive doping test following the CAF Super Cup.
Following the match on September 27, several players from Al Ahly and Zamalek were subjected to doping tests.
Reports have emerged that Zamalek’s new left-back Mahmoud Bentayg’s test result returned positive, causing concern among the fans.
“There is nothing official about Bentayg, It’s just a circulated rumor. Zamalek has not received any formal or informal notice about the player,” Zamalek’s spokesperson Ahmed Salem said.
“Results in such matters can take time, and Zamalek’s medical team closely monitors new signings regarding their health and medication. If we receive any official notification, we will announce it transparently.”
Ahmed Salem also addressed the situation with former Liverpool player Ovie Ejaria, whose trial was cut short just after three days, despite agreeing to a ten-day trial.
“There were no agents involved in Ejaria’s deal. There were concerns about his long absence from football, so we invited him for a 10-day trial,” Salem said.
“After participating in training and playing one-half in a friendly, he wanted to sign the contract immediately, but the management declined.
“Everything went smoothly, including accommodation and travel expenses, and the matter was resolved amicably. The player chose not to continue the 10-day trial, and we thanked him for his time.”
Speaking on the complicated failed transfer negotiations for Aaron Boupendza who almost joined The White Knights, with the move even being announced on the club’s official social media channels, Salem said, “The arrival of his international transfer certificate was not sufficient grounds to file a complaint.
“That was the legal team’s opinion. However, after requesting the player’s certificate from FIFA, the Egyptian FA began official communication, asserting our rights to the player’s international card. We have now started the legal escalation as if the issue just emerged today or yesterday.”
