Portuguese coach Jose Gomes has reportedly informed Zamalek president Hussein Labib of his intention to step down as the team’s head coach.
According to journalist Amr Gaballah, Jose Gomes plans for Wednesday’s training session to be his last with the White Knights. While the Zamalek board is attempting to persuade him to stay, the Portuguese manager appears firm in his decision.
The decision comes after Gomes reportedly received an offer from an undisclosed club, compelling him to express his desire to part ways with Zamalek on amicable terms.
A mid-season departure of the Portuguese would be a major setback for Zamalek. The Whight Knights are currently in second place in the Egyptian Premier League and competing in the African Confederations Cup. Whether the Jose Gomes’ decision to depart in the coming days is yet to be seen.
