Jaime Pacheco

Egyptian giants Zamalek have been hit with yet another transfer ban due to unpaid wages owed to former manager Jaime Pacheco.

Zamalek spokesperson Ahmed Salem revealed that the club has received a letter from FIFA stating that a transfer ban has been imposed due to Jaime Pacheco’s unpaid dues.

FIFA confirmed that Pacheco is owed $819,000 and Zamalek has 30 days to appeal the decision.

Pacheco filed a complaint for unpaid salary, including a release clause and compensation for the remainder of his contract after getting sacked from his role at Zamalek in March 2021.

Initially, FIFA awarded the Portuguese manager $450,000. However, upon appeal, the compensation was increased to $819,000.

Pacheco took over Zamalek for a second stint from September 2020 to March 2021, where he guided the club in 26 games winning 16, drawing four, and losing six, including the CAF Champions League final against arch-rivals Al Ahly.

Just last July, Zamalek had its transfer ban lifted by FIFA after they managed to settle the dispute with former striker Khalid Boutaib.
