Zamalek thrashed Somali side Dekadaha 6–0 in Cairo on Saturday, all but sealing their place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
The White Knights dominated from start to finish, with Brazilian playmaker Juan Bezerra starring in a one-sided contest, scoring twice and assisting three more.
The opening goal came by way of 22-year-old forward Ahmed Sherif early in the first half. The youngster latched onto a clever through ball from Bezerra. The Brazilian doubled the lead just over ten minutes later with a powerful low strike.
Two minutes later, Amr Nasser made it 3–0, firing in from distance to send Zamalek into the dressing room witha comfortable lead.
Substitute Seifeddine Jaziri, who seems to be getting on Yannick Ferrera’s good graces, added a fourth goal in the second half. Jaziri’s goal was set up by Bezerra, before the Brazilian added his second, and Zamalek’s fifth, with a solo effort.
Seif Gaafar put the icing on the cake in the 83rd minute, tapping in after another precise assist from Bezerra to complete the rout.
Dekadaha failed to register a meaningful attempt throughout the 90 minutes, as Zamalek controlled possession and tempo with ease.
The return leg will also be played in Cairo on Friday, with Zamalek holding a commanding lead and one foot in the next round.
