Zamalek lose to ZED in last friendly before Egypt Super Cup

CAF Super Cup champions Zamalek suffered a 3-2 defeat against ZED FC in their final friendly match ahead of the Egyptian Super Cup.

Zamalek lined up with Mohamed Sobhy in goal, while the defense featured Mohamed Hamdy, Ahmed Mahmoud, Hamza Mathlouthi, and Hossam Abdelmeguid. The midfield trio consisted of Ziad Kamal, Abdallah El-Said, and Shikabala, with Konrad Michalak and Mostafa Shalaby positioned on the wings and Nasser Mansi as the lone striker.

Angolan striker Dilson opened the scoring for ZED in the third minute. Zamalek pressed hard for an equalizer, and both teams showcased attacking football in the first half. However, despite their efforts, the half ended with ZED leading 1-0.

Zamalek continued their push in the second half, and Michalak equalized in the 55th minute. ZED responded with a second goal from Sameh Ibrahim in the 73rd minute, but Zamalek quickly leveled again through Hamza Mathlouthi in the 75th minute. In the closing moments, Shady Hussein netted the winning goal for ZED.

This match wraps up Zamalek’s preparations for the Egyptian Super Cup, where they previously lost to Petrojet and ZED and drew with Eastern Company.
