Zamalek announced the signing of Kenyan youngster Baron Ochieng on a free transfer, with the 19-year-old right-back penning a four-year deal.

Zamalek officially announced the signing in a statement on Thursday evening. Additionally, the White Knights welcomed their latest addition in a video announcement on their official social media channels.

Baron Ochieng, who captained Kenya at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, arrives after two seasons at Kenya’s Sofapaka.

The player came through the youth ranks of Kibera Black Stars. On the national stage, he represented Kenya at U18 and U20 level, before receiving his first senior call-up in 2024 for World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and Ivory Coast.

With a contract running until the summer of 2029, the youngster will be registered on Zamalek’s non-senior players list, becoming the club’s 11th addition this summer.

Despite the close of the transfer window, FIFA rules permit the registration of unattached players under Bosman deals.

The White Knights’ latest move comes as part of a major squad rebuild under Belgian coach Yannick Ferrera, following a difficult 2024–25 campaign that ended with a third-place league finish and a CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final exit.

Zamalek return to Egyptian Premier League action on Saturday with a clash against Masry.
