Zamalek trio Mostafa Shalaby, Nabil Emad Dunga, and football director Abdelwahid El-Sayed have been referred to court in the UAE.
The trio has been in custody after a security guard filed a complaint accusing the players of assaulting him during the Pyramids FC clash.
The altercation is believed to have happened after Nabil Emad, who was excluded from the match due to injury, tried to come down the pitch instead of staying in the designated area in the stands. Mostafa Shalaby also got involved, but it quickly ended after the intervention of others.
The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution decided to refer the trio to court on Tuesday morning. The first court hearing will be on Wednesday 23 October 2024.
The White Castle threatened to withdraw from the Super Cup due to this issue. They have reached the final after beating Pyramids 5-4 on penalties after the game ended with a 1-1 draw.
Zamalek is set to face arch-rivals Al Ahly in the Egypt Super Cup final on Thursday 24 October 2024 at 8 PM CET.
