The Zamalek trio returned to Egypt on Wednesday morning following the resolution of their legal issue in the UAE.
According to reports, the three individuals arrived at Cairo International Airport earlier today. They had been detained by UAE authorities after an incident during Zamalek’s Egyptian Super Cup semi-final match against Pyramids FC.
They were arrested after the three were accused of physically assaulting a stadium security officer during a scuffle on the sidelines. Initially, the Abu Dhabi Court sentenced the trio to one month in prison along with a fine of 600,000 AED.
However, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed issued a pardon, leading to their release. Zamalek president Hussein Labib along with other board members Hossam Al-Mandouh and Ahmed Khaled Hosny, remained in the UAE to provide support and ensure their safe return.
