Youssef Obama is set to depart Zamalek after more than ten years as he agreed terms with league rivals Pyramids FC.
Obama’s contract has expired with the end of the domestic season, allowing the player to join any club on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old has decided to join Pyramids FC on a three-year deal, which will mark the first time the player left Zamalek on a permanent transfer.
A product of the club’s youth academy, Obama was promoted to the first-team in 2014 and was loaned out three times, first to Ittihad of Alexandria in 2016, to Wadi Degla a year later, and most recently to Saudi side Al-Hazem last season.
During his career at Zamalek, Obama scored 51 goals and assisted 27 in 248 games, winning 12 titles with the club, including three league titles, five Egypt Cups, and two CAF Confederation Cups.
This season, Obama scored 11 goals in 31 games, including two goals on their road to winning the CAF Confederation Cup.
Youssef Obama will now become Pyramids FC’s first summer signing after the club lost the league title in a dramatic marathon with rivals Al Ahly.
The club are trying to dethrone Al Ahly as the Egyptian Champions and mount a serious challenge for the CAF Champions League title to win their first-ever trophy.
