Pyramids FC defeated ZED FC 2-1 at Cairo International Stadium to win the Egypt Cup for the second time in their history.

Pyramids FC won the Egypt Cup for the second time after beating ZED FC 2-1 in the final at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday. The result gave Pyramids another cup final win over ZED, following their 2024 final win over the same opponent.

Karim Hafez opened the scoring from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time. The referee awarded the penalty after a VAR review showed that Abdelrahman El-Banoubi had stepped on Mohanad Lasheen’s foot inside the area.

Pyramids doubled their lead in the 57th minute through Fiston Mayele. Hafez supplied the cross, and Mayele finished from inside the penalty area to put Pyramids two goals ahead.

ZED tried to respond in the second half and created their clearest chance through Shady Hussein in the 66th minute. Pyramids FC then went down to 10 men in the 80th minute after Mostafa “Ziko” received a red card for a challenge on Tarek Alaa.

Raafat Khalil scored for ZED in stoppage time, heading in from a cross. The goal was initially checked for a possible offside before it was awarded after a VAR review.

ZED could not find an equaliser before the final whistle. The match ended 2-1, adding a fifth trophy to Pyramids’ cabinet.

Pyramids are still competing for a domestic double. They need to beat Smouha in their final Egyptian Premier League match, and for Zamalek to drop points against Ceramica Cleopatra on May 20.
